Feds Arrest 8 Suspected Of Smuggling $200M In Chinese Goods

Eight people have been arrested in connection to a $200 million smuggling operation using the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach to bring counterfeit and illegal goods from China. The conspirators, including corrupt truck drivers and warehouse owners, bypassed customs by using fake seals on shipping containers. Over $130 million worth of contraband was seized.

The operation lasted from August 2023 to June 2024, involving dangerous chemicals and counterfeit goods.

The defendants face serious charges, with potential sentences of up to 20 years. The investigation is part of a broader effort to dismantle criminal organizations impacting U.S. security and trade.

The lead defendant remains at large, while the other eight defendants are set for trial in March.
