Just as John and I celebrated our anniversary on the beach, a woman ran up, knelt before him, and called his name. My heart stopped. I had no idea what was coming.
“JOHN… No, please don’t leave me… John!” I screamed, jolting awake from a nightmare. I realized it was just a dream, and I was in bed. “Rosa? You okay?” John’s voice called from the hallway. He appeared, looking concerned.
I sighed in relief. “Yeah, just a bad dream. What time is it?” “It’s almost 9. I made coffee,” he said, smiling. “Oh, and happy anniversary, sweetheart.”
My eyes widened. It was our 10th wedding anniversary! I hugged him. “Happy anniversary, John!” He gave me two plane tickets. “The Dominican Republic? Are you serious?” I gasped. “Pack your bags. We leave in three hours.”
The flight to the Dominican Republic was filled with excitement. As we arrived, I marveled at the beauty. John grinned. “Just wait until you see where we’re staying.”
Our resort was stunning. “John, this must have cost a fortune,” I whispered. He winked. “Nothing but the best for my girl.”
After days of blissful relaxation, on our third evening, we watched the sunset. I felt a secret in my stomach—I was pregnant but hadn’t told him yet. We walked on the beach, and I planned to share my news.
Suddenly, a woman in a white swimsuit appeared, knelt before John, and said, “You’re the love of my life. Will you marry me?” My world tilted. John laughed and explained it was a prank by Julia, an old college friend. I was relieved it was just a joke.
I pulled out a gift box and handed it to John. He opened it, revealing a tiny locket shaped like baby feet. “You’re… we’re… Oh my God, Rosa!” he exclaimed. “I’m pregnant!” I revealed.
John lifted me, spinning with joy. Julia took a photo of us, and we felt pure happiness. John kissed me passionately. “I’ve never been happier. I love you, Rosa.” “I love you too,” I replied.
Hand in hand, we walked back to our resort, looking forward to the future. This trip marked a new chapter in our lives, and I couldn’t wait for the adventures ahead.
